PRESS RELEASE
HEART Party Announces Strategic Decision Ahead of 2027 NSW State Election
18th April 2026
After careful consideration, extensive discussions with our board, and ongoing engagement with other minor parties, the HEART Party has made the strategic decision not to contest the 2027 New South Wales State Election, for this election only.
Instead, the HEART Party will officially support the Libertarian Party (formerly the Liberal Democrats), in a unified effort to strengthen representation on key shared issues. This decision has been made with the best interests of our members and the broader community in mind, and reflects a commitment to achieving meaningful outcomes through collaboration.
Key reasons for this decision include:
- Hon John Ruddick, Member of the Legislative Council for the Libertarian Party, is currently representing in Parliament on issues central to the HEART Party’s mission, including opposition to medication mandates. Video footage here: facebook.com/reel/1294638585516965
- The HEART Party was founded in 2016 by Michael O’Neill (formerly IMOParty) to advocate against the No Jab No Play/Pay legislation. With this cause now actively represented in Parliament, we believe it is both practical and important to lend our support.
- The HEART Party and the Libertarian Party share a strong alignment across a broad range of policy areas, reinforcing our confidence in this decision.
The HEART Party encourages all members and supporters, as well as the wider public, to support the Libertarian Party at the upcoming 2027 NSW State Election.
We remain committed to keeping our community informed and will provide further updates regarding collaborations and strategies involving other minor parties as they develop.
